Baham lines up three visits

It has been nearly three-and-a-half months since Ca'Ron Baham suffered a torn ACL. The 36th ranked prospect from the talent rich Bayou State said his recovery from the knee injury has come along well and he expects to be fully recovered by the time he enrolls at his college of choice. Three programs will enter the New Year with an edge.

Baham announced his de-commitment from Missouri recently but the Tigers are still in the mix for his signature. The dynamic 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete from Marrero (La.) John Ehret updated his visit plans with BuffStampede.com on Sunday afternoon.

“On Jan. 15, I go up to Colorado, then on Jan. 22, I go over to Tulane. I had a Memphis visit set up for the 30th but that visit was replaced and moved out for a Missouri visit. I'll be going out to Columbia on the 29th instead,” said Baham. “I am still open but those are my top three and those will be the three that I'll likely be considering the most.

“Right now I am just kind of taking it easy because in a couple weeks the dead period will be up. I am going over things with my head coach and my family before I take my official visits. Everything is pretty balanced between my top three. Once I go on the official visits, I will be able to explore and sort of narrow it down.”

Baham will be visiting Colorado and Tulane with his John Ehret teammate and “best friend” Jarrius Wallace, a safety prospect that is currently verbally committed to UCF.

“You could say Jarrius and I might be a package deal because we both want to play with each other,” Baham said. “We have played with each other since youth ball up through middle school and high school. We really want to play together on the next level in college. I think it is great for two best friends to play on the same field.”

Safeties coach Joe Tumpkin has been responsible for the recruitment of Baham and Wallace from the Buffaloes' staff. He made a stop through Louisiana before the current recruiting dead period.

“I just want to go up there, have a great time, meet all the coaches and see if things are real,” Baham said of his upcoming trip to Boulder. “It is one thing to be told something on the phone but it is another to go there and see how the environment is, to see if you could live there.

“I will say Coach Tumpkin seems like a pretty genuine guy that has been straight-up with me. I just want to see everything with my own eyes. I know Colorado only has three [scholarshiped underclassmen] defensive backs on the roster for the spring so they have been talking to me about coming in as a defensive back. They are looking for me to make an immediate impact there.”

Missouri has talked to Baham about playing wide receiver, while Tulane is simply recruiting him as an athlete. Playing quarterback, he accounted for 2,319 yards and 23 touchdowns, including 1,514 rushing yards, during his junior campaign.

Baham helped lead from the sidelines as John Ehret won a District 8 title this fall and made it all the way to the 5A state championship game.

“Once I went down, the guys always told me the season was for me. That is something they really carried on their back when things got hard and other teams took the lead,” Baham said. “The guys kept fighting and that is something that helped me with my therapy process... just to keep fighting.”
