Davidson enjoyed time in Boulder

Even though Jordyn Brooks has been verbally committed to Texas Tech since June, new Buffs assistant coach Darrin Chiaverini convinced him to take an official visit to Colorado this past weekend. Brown was accompanied on the visit by his Houston (Texas) Stratford teammate, and friend, Ethan Davidson, who is also being recruited by the Buffaloes now.

“Coach 'Chiv' is looking at me for a slot receiver role. He likes my speed,” explained Davidson, who measured in at 5-foot-9.5, 168-pounds during his official visit to Boulder.

Davidson performed well at a Texas Tech skills camp in front of Chiaverini last summer. He does not have an offer from Colorado yet, but the Buffs have told him they will keep in contact with him in the days leading up to signing day, which lands on Feb. 3 this year.

“George Frazier was my player host at Colorado. I had been to Colorado once before on a ski trip but I had never been to see the University before. I wasn't expecting the facilities to be that nice,” Davidson said. “Checking out all the new stuff they are building really stood out. The food was real good, too. They fed me well.

“The players are a real good group of guys out there and the coaching staff is good. The head coach (Mike MacIntyre), I really like him a lot, too. And Coach 'Chiv,' of course he is a good guy. It was a real good trip.”

Davidson plans to take an official visit to Texas Tech with Brooks during the weekend of Jan. 29. He has offers from Dartmouth, Yale, and a handful of lower division programs including Colorado School of Mines and Trinity University.

“Colorado is one of the top ones, and [Texas] Tech,” Davidson said when asked where his interest lies with colleges. “I am just looking at those two mostly, seeing which one is better.”

Davidson spent time playing both running back and defensive back during his prep career at Stratford. He earned all-district honors after recording five interceptions as a senior.

“I am trying to play receiver in college, as a slot receiver,” he said. “With my ability to cut and my quickness I feel like that is the best place for me to be able to make plays at. My hands are pretty solid. I haven't gotten to show that off much yet.”
