Lytle recaps trip to Centennial State

Tyler Lytle had already taken unofficial visits Arizona State, Cal, Miami, Hawaii and UNLV, and this past weekend, the highly regarded pro-style quarterback from Anaheim (Calif.) Servite stopped by the Centennial State to check out Colorado State and Colorado.

“Colorado State was great. I love [head] coach [Mike] Bobo and it is a really good family atmosphere,” said Lytle, who stands 6-foot-5, 205-pounds. “I got to meet Coach Bobo's wife and family. It was just a really good day. I really like what they had to offer.”

What were his impressions of the Buffaloes?

“Their coaching staff was awesome,” Lytle said. “[Head] coach [Mike] Mac[Intyre], I got to sit down and talk to him for a little bit. I got along great with Coach [Brian] Lindgren, the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, as well as Coach [Darrin] Chiaverini, the other co-offensive coordination. Both of them let me know how much they want me. They were recruiting me pretty hard.”

“The campus is beautiful and I like what they do on offense,” Lytle added when talking about his trip to CU. “They like to throw the ball around a lot. Coach Chiaverini came from Texas Tech where they threw the ball for more than 5,000 yards last year. So it would be pretty cool to play in an offense like that. I think I'd do pretty well there.

“That was the first time I had seen snow on a trip, which was pretty cool. It wasn't snowing but there was some leftover. The campus had a different feel to it with the style of buildings. I really liked it. It felt really warm.”

Lytle is now set to visit Vanderbilt on April 16. It will be his first time visiting the state of Tennessee.

“I am really excited to see what it is like and what they have to offer. It is a very different University with it being a small, very academically prestigious institution. So I think it'll be very interesting,” he said.

Lytle is still planning to make his college decision sometime in June. All of the programs mentioned in this article have extended a scholarship offer.

“Probably the schools recruiting me the hardest right now are Colorado, Arizona State, Boston College, as well as Hawaii, Colorado State and Oregon State,” Lytle said. “Cal, Illinois, Fresno State, Temple are also recruiting me. I am talking to a lot of schools right now.

“It is one of the biggest decisions of my life and I have to make sure I make the right decision. I have a lot of offers from big schools, so when it comes down to it, it is going to be tough. But I think I'll make the right decision.”

Lytle is currently ranked as the nation's 19th best pro-style quarterback prospect, and the 62nd best recruit in California. He missed a good portion of the second half of the season with a hamstring strain but threw for 422 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the season opener.

“All of the schools that are recruiting me the hardest have told me they like my size and how quick my release is. They say the combination is pretty rare,” Lytle said.
