One official visit left for Baham

Ca'Ron Baham was verbally committed to Missouri earlier in the process, and he was scheduled to visit Columbia during the final weekend of January. The three-star athlete prospect from Marrero (La.) John Ehret recently decided to cancel that trip.

“I am no longer looking to take a visit the last weekend before signing day. My decision will come down to Colorado and Tulane,” said Baham, who measured in at 5-foot-11.75, 195-pounds during his official visit to Colorado this past weekend.

Baham was hosted by junior-to-be Leo Jackson during his trip out to Boulder. Jackson is originally from the South and was able to relate well with Baham.

“My trip to Colorado was a great visit. I got a chance to go out and see a different environment, something totally different from the South,” he said. “It was more than I envisioned. Great environment, great people, just a great college town.

“There was snow on the ground when we got there and it was beautiful. It wasn't as cold as you think it would be. It was like 34-36 degrees on Friday, but it wasn't the kind of cold like we get down in the South. It was a different cold, it felt good, so I liked that.”

Baham took the trip to Boulder with two of his teammates, Jarrius Wallace (pictured in the tweet above) and Dejon Harris, who is currently verbally committed to Arkansas.

“It would be a great to be a package deal with them, but at the same time we all have to do what is best for each of us,” he said.

Colorado is recruiting Baham for cornerback, while Tulane projects him as a wide receiver. Both schools have said he would be in the mix to return punts and kicks.

Coaches from Tulane are scheduled to stop by for an in-home visit with Baham on Tuesday or Wednesday, and Buffs safeties coach Joe Tumpkin is expected to be by on Thursday.

What will Baham be looking to see when he visits Tulane this coming weekend?

“Basically I just want to see if there is more of a need than a want for me. I wouldn't want to go anywhere where I am just wanted. I want to go somewhere where I am needed, where I can come in and make an immediate impact,” Baham said. “I'll see what the coaching staff at Tulane is like and find out if everything is genuine.”

Baham said he expects to make his college decision sometime by next Monday, at the latest. Arizona, Arkansas, Arkansas State, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Southern Miss and Troy are some of the other colleges that offered him earlier in the process.

Ranked as the 36th best prospect in the state of Louisiana this cycle, Baham accounted for 2,319 yards of offense and 23 touchdowns in nine games as a junior. He was not able to play as a senior after suffering a torn ACL.

“I am on schedule with my recovery,” Baham said. “We are just staying patient and not rushing anything. By the summer time, I should be 100 percent. It definitely makes you not take football for granted. I have to thank the man above for every opportunity that he gives me. It is a humbling experience but I am going to come back with a chip on my shoulder.”
